Auto zoom moves a virtual camera across your recording. It pushes in where you are working and pulls back out when you move on, the way a hand-edited product demo does. You do not set any keyframes. ScreenDub works it out from where your cursor went and what you clicked.
You need the Chrome extension
Auto zoom needs to know where your cursor was, and a plain screen recording does not carry that. The Chrome extension records the cursor alongside the video, so zoom is available on extension recordings only.
If you record another way, everything else in the editor still works. The Zoom & clicks section simply does not appear.
What it does
- The camera pushes in on the spot you are clicking or typing.
- It follows your cursor while zoomed in, instead of sitting still.
- Motion blur softens the movement so the camera glides rather than snaps.
- Repeated clicks in the same place, like stepping through a gallery, do not trigger a fresh zoom each time.
Settings
- Auto zoom. The whole effect, on or off.
- Zoom level. How far in the camera goes. Lower is subtle, higher is emphatic.
- Motion blur. Blur while the camera moves. On by default.
- Click highlight. An outline around the element you clicked. Off by default.
- Click ripple. An expanding ring at each click. Off by default.
Changing one zoom
Each zoom appears as a marker on the seekbar. Click a marker to change just that one: make it stronger, make it weaker, or remove it entirely. The rest of the video is untouched.
This is the fix when the camera pushes in on something that did not matter, or stays wide on the one moment that did.
