Getting started
Introduction
Last updated
ScreenDub turns a screen recording or a slide deck into a narrated video. You bring the footage. It writes the script, voices it in a natural voice, and renders the finished video for you. You never open a timeline or record a take. And when you need another language, you translate the same project instead of starting over.
Two ways to start
Every project begins one of two ways.
- Screen recording. You record your screen, and ScreenDub writes narration that matches what happens on it. This fits product demos, tutorials, and how-to guides. See For Creators for the full overview.
- PPT to Video. You upload a PowerPoint or PDF, and ScreenDub narrates it slide by slide. This fits training, onboarding, and recorded presentations. See PPT to Video for details.
What you can make
The output is a finished video with voice narration. Common uses include:
- Product demos and feature walkthroughs.
- Step-by-step tutorials and how-to guides.
- Onboarding and training videos.
- Course and lesson content.
How narration works
ScreenDub splits your video into segments. A segment is one short, narrated line tied to a single step on screen or a single slide. You work one segment at a time, so a small fix stays small. You also stay in control of the voice and the wording.
- You pick a voice and an accent.
- You pick a script style, which sets the tone of the narration.
- ScreenDub generates the script and the speech for you.
- You review the result and re-narrate any part that needs a change.
The first correction on each segment is free. Fixing a line does not use up your minutes.
What you need
- A free account. No credit card is needed to start.
- A modern browser. For screen recording, a recent version of Chrome or Edge works best.
- Nothing to install. Everything runs in the browser.
