Regenerate a Video From the Same Recording

Last updated

In short

  • Rebuilds the video from the same recording or deck with a fresh script.
  • You do not record or upload again.
  • Your wording edits are replaced, so use it for a new direction, not a small fix.
  • For one line, re-narrate that segment instead.

Regenerating rebuilds your video from the same source. You do not record or upload again. ScreenDub reuses your original recording or deck and writes a fresh script.

When to regenerate

  • You want to try a different script style.
  • You changed your narration details and want the script to reflect them.
  • You want a fresh take on the whole video.

What stays and what changes

Your original recording or deck stays the same. The script and narration are built again, and the new version replaces the old script.

Regenerating writes a new script, so your current edits to the wording are replaced. Any export you already made is cleared too, and you will need to export again after you are happy with the result.

Smaller changes

You do not always need a full regenerate. To fix one line, re-narrate that segment instead. See Corrections & re-narration. To change only the voice, switch the voice and regenerate the narration. See Choosing a voice & accent.
